Gahaya Links (Rwanda)
Gahaya Links was started in Rwanda after the 1994
genocide and works with over 400 rural women basket
weavers providing them with the income and resources
to live adequately. These women are mainly genocide
widows, young girls heading households and women whose
husbands are in prison accused of genocide crimes.
Gahaya is selling their crafts in the international
markets and a portion of the income from the sell
of crafts is reinvested in the community for support
services, skills training and building schools for
children.
